Construction output up 4.0% in March, 11.7% in Q1

Construction output in Hungary was up 4.0% year on year in March 2005, according to working day adjusted figures released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Business confidence stays at all-time low in April

Business confidence in April continued to hover around an all-time low in March, according to the latest business and household confidence index of research institute GKI. A marginal rise of 0.4 points to -17.0 this month is within the index's margin of error and therefore cannot be taken as an indication of improving confidence, says GKI.

Revenues at Praktiker up 10% to HUF 44 billion in 2004 - stagnation seen in 2005

Combined sales revenues from the Hungarian stores of German DIY chain Praktiker were HUF 44 billion (USD 235 million) in 2004, the company said. This represents a 10% increase on the previous year and is HUF 1.5 billion in excess of expectations.

Bridgestone to build EUR 190 million tire plant in Hungary

Japan's largest tire maker Bridgestone plans to build a new plant for EUR 190 million in Hungary to produce radial tires for the European market.
