– When was NYK Logistic (Hungary) Ltd. founded?
– The Hungarian subsidiary of the world’s biggest Japanese shipping and transportation company group was established in 1997. In the first two years we operated as the representative office of our German company, from 1999 – under the name of New Wave Logistics Hungary – we operate as an unaffiliated legal entity in the international logistics market. Last year, the management of the company group made a decision that the formerly separated shipment and logistical branches which used to operate under the names of NYK Line and New Wave Logistics - would be unified worldwide under the name of NYK (Nippon Yousen Kabushiki Kaisha) Logistics & Megacarrier. As part of this restructure, our company has been operating under the name of NYK Logistic (Hungary) Kft. since January 1st, 2004.
– Where are the mother company’s representative and subsidiaries offices?
– The NYK Group has its own offices or representative offices all over the world. There are 101 offices worldwide and 30 offices can be found in Europe. Besides the company group’s ship fleet, (the group has 752 ocean liners) it has its own significant vehicle fleet and has a warehouse capacity of 1.8 million square meters worldwide. The company group employs more than 30,000 employees.
Among the several prizes and appreciations we have, it is also important to highlight that in 2002, NYK UK was granted the title of the best logistical provider in Europe, namely the „Logistics Company of the Year” prize, from among 1,200 companies, established by the Motor Transport Association UK. In Hungary, we were granted the „Hermes” prize for the appreciation of our custom broker and custom expert activities.
– What services can you offer for your clients?
– We provide a complete logistical package for our clients. For key projects – upon request – we appoint a key account manager. Our international background, professionals and expanded partner connections and modern informatics solutions guarantee the speed and effectiveness. NYK (Hungary) Kft. registered with ISO 9001 assurance, covering the logistical activities, which include domestic and international forwarding and transportation, consolidated shipments, warehousing, custom clearance and custom consultancy.
– What does the complex logistical service mean in your case?
– Besides offering complex plant logistics, we are engaged in international export-import forwarding, we can also undertake the transportation by trucks but also by using containers, and we accept the forwarding of oversize cargos as well. As part of our groupage services we conduct overseas export-import container activities and we also operate a joint cargo truck between Germany (Hamburg and Duisburg) and Hungary on a weekly basis. Besides land and sea transportations, we also undertake transportation by air. For our warehousing services, we maintain our recently built modern warehouse for groupage, custom and VAT warehousing in the Intermodal Logistical Center of Budapest, (BILK) which is operated by us. As part of our complex warehousing package, we undertake re-packing, commissioning and forming of pallets, etc. The interior height of the warehouse is 9 meters, it also has industrial rails and modern loading machines and it can be accesed through 7 gates, therefore it is able to serve any types of trucks quickly and safely. The building is temperature controlled in the range of +5 degrees Celsius temperature, the tasks of warehouse managing, controlling and its real time records are carried out by the Windows based Selsped network (SAP partner).
The domestic distribution is undertaken by our own vehicle fleet, all of them are Mercedes-Benz vehicles and their average age is only 3 years. A wide network of subcontracting companies with ISO assurances backs this service of ours. In the frame of the overall custom handling and custom consultancy, we undertake the procedure of simplified custom procedures, custom clearances for free Hungarian trading in and out loading, re-export case handlings, etc. We undertake delayed custom payments according to NYK permission and the financial representation / intrastat is also part of our profile. Finally, I have to mention the on-site special material handlings, the movement of loads by cranes or by special forklift machines and the transportation and disposal of heavy machine.
