Unemployment climbs further to 7.2% in February-April
Hungary's unemployment rate increased to 7.2% in the period February-April 2005, according to figures released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
Finance ministry expects HUF 3-4 billion revenues from new health contribution
The finance ministry estimates that new measures on collecting 4% health care contribution on certain forms of capital gains will affect just a few ten thousand taxpayers and bring HUF 3-4 billion (USD 15-20 million) in revenues to the budget, according to state secretary Tamas Katona.
Monetary Council cuts base rate by 25 bp to 7.25%
Effective May 24, the Monetary Council of central bank MNB reduced the base rate by 25 basis points to 7.25% at its May 23 meeting. Market expectations were split between a 25 bp cut and a no-change move.

Total Hungaria records HUF 22 billion sales in 2004, above plans
Total Hungaria Kft, the Hungarian subsidiary of the TotalFinaElf oil group, recorded sales revenues of HUF 22 billion (USD 109 million) last year, while operating income totaled HUF 2.3 billion and net income reached HUF 1.8 billion, the company announced.
