Government accepts EUR 52 million offset claim from Gripen
An offset claim worth EUR 52 million made by Swedish aircraft manufacturer Gripen International has been accepted by the Hungarian ministry of economy and transport, Gripen International announced. Individual projects to be covered by the present agreement were not disclosed.
Six bidders advance to second round of Antenna privatization
Privatization agency APV has invited six bidders to take part in the second round of the privatization of a 75% plus one vote stake in national broadcaster and telecom company Antenna Hungaria (AH).
Finance minister says VAT rate will definitely be reduced
Finance minister Janos Veres confirmed on Thursday that the government plans to reduce the top VAT rate of 25%. "The rate will not be as low as 18%, but will decrease significantly from the current level," he told the annual general meeting of the Joint Venture Association (JVA).
Motorway construction to be sped up
The government also decided at its Wednesday meeting to speed up various motorway construction programs. The decision means that the 48 km section of the M6 motorway between Szekszard-Boly and the 30 km M60 highway between Boly-Pecs will be built already by the end of 2007 instead of the earlier planned 2010, economy and transport minister Janos Koka said.
Investment growth 6.8% in Q1
Investment volume in Hungary increased by 6.8% in the first quarter of 2005 over a year earlier, according to unadjusted preliminary figures released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
