Audi's output totaled 397,228 engines in Q1, which is some 7% more than a year earlier. More than 80% of the engines produced in the Gyor (western Hungary) factory were four-cylinder units, with the number of diesel engines approaching 200,000 units.

Audi also produced 53,204 six-cylinder and 8,182 eight-cylinder engines, both representing a decline compared to the base period. Units manufactured in Gyor are used in the German, Belgian, Czech, Slovak, Polish, Portuguese, Brazilian, South-African, Spanish, Mexican and Chinese car plants of the Volkswagen group.

The Gyor plant also manufactured Audi TT sports cars in the first quarter, 1,936 TT Coupes and 1,494 TT Roadsters, roughly unchanged from last year. Audi currently has 5,066 employees.
