Hotel developments along Lake Balaton have not ceased despite the crisis, and several older establishments are being renewed by developing their services with the help of funds won through the regional tenders of the New Hungary Development Plan last year. The funds won through the regional tenders are the source of the already launched construction of the Hotel Borbarátok three-star hotel in Badacsonytomaj, which will be a niche-filling tourism establishment of the region. The total cost of the development is close to 680 million forints. Work is well under way on the Azúr Hotel in Siófok as well - currently, the conference and bowling centers -, whose operator decided on the area and service expansion of the facility based on increased demand. With the help of 530 million forints in EU money, a new wing with 49 rooms will be built for 1.6 billion forints by December, and parallel to this, the existing sports facilities and wellness services will be developed as well. In Zamárdi, Wellamarin Kereskedelmi és Vendéglátó Kft is building the more than 100-room, 300-capacity Wellamarin Wellness Hotel directly on the lakeside. In Marcali, the four-star, 116-room medicinal and wellness center will be built from 3.5 billion forints by spring next year, thus the medicinal bath, indoor swimming pool and wellness hotel complex will function as a tourism center. There are also large-scale developments ongoing in Hévíz, where the integrated health tourism development of the medicinal bath has already begun, during the course of which a medicinal-tourism center will be developed in a 5 billion forint total investment.Along Lake Velence, there is currently a hotel investment underway in Gárdony: work on the four-star Vital Hotel Nautis superior wellness and conference hotel has been delayed, with the opening originally planned for the end of last year. The big project of the municipality of Velence, the Gate of Lake Velence project, could launch soon as well, with a total budget of 2.2 billion forints. From this, a 2,700 square meter covered pedestrian street will be built, as well as an open promenade to the thermal baths, while the youth beach, the embankment and the ship harbor will be overhauled as well.The Lake Tisza eco-center project at Poroszló could also launch soon, with the public procurement proceedings already under way. The 2.2 billion forint investment, of which 1.94 billion will be covered by EU funds, will see the construction of an eco-park presenting the wildlife of the Tisza River and Lake Tisza, and several freshwater aquariums with total volume of 600 thousand liters. The center will also include a 10-hectare bird park, a movie theater capable of showing 3D films, a conference room and a water tours center.
