"I think there are three essential conditions that have made us a good employer. The first is the establishment of a good team, the second is group cohesion forged under pressure, third is performance management and motivation," GSK managing director Gyorgy Leitner said.
Runners-up in the large company category were power grid operator Mavir Rt, central bank MNB, gambling monopoly Szerencsejatek Rt, and CIB Leasing, Hungary's largest leasing firm.
In the SME category, asset manager and district heating company Egri Vagyonkezelo was voted "Best Employer," while runners-up in the category were IT company Nextent Kft, construction firm Varpex Rt, telecom firm Avaya Kft, and IT security provider Kurt.
The award, modeled on the "100 Best Workplaces" list compiled by Fortune magazine and Hewitt Associates, was introduced in Hungary in 2001. The winners were selected on the basis of questionnaires involving 120 companies, a record number in the history of the study. Past winners include T-Mobile Hungary, IT firm Nexon, and Sykes Hungary.
