2006 budget deficit target 4.7% of GDP
At Wednesday's meeting, the government accepted the 2006 draft budget. The draft foresees a 1.4 pp reduction in the deficit to 4.7% of GDP, but this is still significantly higher than the 2.9% contained in Hungary's EU convergence plan.

Zsigmond Jarai, the president of Hungary's central bank MNB, said on Thursday that he sees further risks to the government's 2006 draft budget, and that he does not believe the euro can be introduced in 2010 as planned. Business outlook down slightly in September - Ecostat
