Business confidence at one-year high in September, says GKI
Consumer and business confidence in Hungary improved side by side in September, with improving prospects in the industrial sector boosting business confidence to a one-year high, research institute GKI said in its latest monthly confidence report.

While Hungary's financial system remains strong, its stability may be undermined by risks arising from increased lending activity and from negative changes in the macroeconomic environment, according to the findings of Hungary's central bank MNB in its quarterly Report on Financial Stability.
Budget deficit HUF 63 bln in September, lower than expected
Hungary's cash-flow based consolidated state budget deficit was HUF 1,059.5 bln at the end of September, some HUF 30 bln lower than the expected HUF 1,088.1 bln, the finance ministry announced. The deficit amounts to 4.75% of GDP.
Internet usage doubles in past two years, but still lags behind EU
The number of Internet users in Hungary, defined as those who have used the Internet in the past month, has grown dynamically since 2003, and reached 27% of the population in the first half of 2005, according to the latest study by Hungarian research firms NRC and TNS.
Gas prices for industrial consumers to rise by 19% from November
End-user prices for non-household consumers of natural gas will rise by an average 19% from November 1 based on the decision of the Minister of Economy and Transport, MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas Company announced. Prices for household consumers, however, will remain unchanged.
