Linux increases share of OS market - Novell introduces new version

Software firm Novell Hungary plans to ride a wave of dynamic expansion in the use of open-source Linux operating systems in Hungary, by releasing the localized version of SUSE Linux Professional 9.3, managing director Tamas Szittya announced.

Economy ministry reduces 2005 growth forecast to 3.5%

Due to a worsening international economic outlook, caused in part by high oil prices, Hungary's GDP growth is set to slow from last year's 4.2% rate to just above 3.5% this year, according to the latest economic forecast report of the ministry of economy and transport.

May inflation 3.6% y-o-y, 0.6% m-o-m - above expectations

Consumer prices in Hungary were 3.6% higher in May 2005 than a year earlier, while prices were up 0.6% compared to the previous month. The year-on-year figure is down from 3.9% in April, but is higher than analyst expectations of around 3.4%. In the first five months of 2005, consumer prices were up 3.6% on average year on year.

Audi, Suzuki, ExxonMobil among recipients of Investment Council awards

The Investment Council (BT), an organization set up by business groups and the government to foster investment and facilitate a business-friendly regulatory environment, awarded prizes to six companies deemed to have done the most to increase employment and provide an impetus to economic development.
