The unemployment rate is 1.8 pp less than the EU-25 countries' average in the previous three-month period and is also lower than the average 8.2% rate recorded in the EU-15.
Meanwhile, the size of the workforce was 3.886 million in March-May, which compares to 4.188 million economically active people. Among the population aged 15-24, the unemployment rate was 19.2%, about the same as in the same period in 2004 and slightly higher than EU averages.
The average length of unemployment in Hungary was 16.3 months, up a notch from the previous three-month period. Some 46% of all unemployed persons were seeking work for over one year, without significant difference from last year's rates.
The KSH does not publish monthly unemployment figures, as it considers the three-month moving average unemployment rate a more reliable indicator since the larger sample creates statistically more reliable results.
